i'm back from yangon! haha..i'm like travelling around southeast asia..i've realized that southeast asia is also a pretty nice place to get to know..in fact, we don't really know much about our neighbouring countries until we go and really feel the place, its heritage and whatnots. anyhows..this time round it was not as fun as hanoi..but more of an eye opener..myanmar has strong remnants of the communistic past and it still hasn't developed itself as well as hanoi did..but i'm sure in time to come..it will be like hanoi..for now..just a few pix here and there!
i forgot the name of this place..but i reckon its the municipal building..built during colonial occupation by the british..
i tell u..i have never seen so many people squeeze onto a small van,tut-tut..some of them have rice sacks over their heads while balancing on the little piece of metal or plank while travelling at 70km/h..scary i tell u..
my wonderful mum & i on a truck!! a large truck..we took a ride up the steep and winding mountain..and tt driver was speeding..it was exhilarating..with the wind brushing against my hair..haha..but it was thrilling..cuz the roads were super narrow..no safety belts, no cover..its like a one way track..there are actually timings for the trucks to go up and down..cuz there's only room for less than 1 truck! haha..i reckon if i dun sit still and hold the railing..i might just fly out of the truck and into the wilderness of the mountains..s.c.a.r.y.
this is wad we went up for..this golden rock mountain..this rock is positioned on top of a mountain at an angle that is ridiculous..it seems to be able to fall off anytime..but it has maintained its balance for like hundreds of years..so the people of myanmar believed that it is spiritual and they usually go up to offer prayers and get blessings..
oh..did i also tell u that its gold plated? dun ask me how also..haha..
